Keying Systems
Key Control
“You mean to tell me that someone can bypass my $25,000 building security system with a $2 key?”
Even the most secure building in America has a key. The foundation of building security is the quality of the mechanical door and locking hardware and control of the masterkey system. Since 1897 Kenton Brothers has been taking care of the hardware needed to keep a door secure.
The Master Locksmiths at Kenton Brothers have over 130 years of combined experience in working with clients to design and maintain a mechanical keying system that will provide business owners and property managers with the highest level of key organization and control possible.
Clients who are candidates for a key control assessment typically:
- Have a keying system that was put in place by a contractor
- Have a system that has been in place for over 5 years
- Have added or reduced a number of employees over the past year
Master Keying
“You know the words ‘DO NOT DUPLICATE’ on a key really don’t mean anything, don’t you?”
As an organization changes in size and complexity so does it’s need for mechanical physical security. In order to keep pace with these changes, many organizations implement commercial Masterkey systems.
Masterkey systems are specially designed to balance the need to maintain tight control over spaces while at the same time reducing the complexity of key management that is common to organizations with a large number of employees or an array of different facilities.
Masterkey systems employ specialized keys that are Patent Protected. This protection restricts access to the physical keys and puts the security adminstrator in charge of who is authorized to request new keys. Masterkey systems also have a method of tracking keys and make it easy for adminstrators to respond to changes in employment or lost key situations.
Clients typically implement Masterkey systems when:
- Their current keying system is more than 5 years old.
- A number of buildings have recently been added to the inventory.
- There has been a change in building security or management teams.
- There are an increasing number of spaces that require a higher level of security.
