Kenton Brothers Inc. installs “Assembly of Equals”

Baltimore Ave side

Kenton Brothers Inc. is proud to display “Assembly of Equals” by native Kansas City artist Susan Hanson.  The piece is installed on the Baltimore Ave. side of the building at 1718 Baltimore Avenue in conjunction with an exterior remodel which is currently under way.

Susan Hanson, a Kansas City native, now residing in McKinney, Texas received her BFA from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.   Susan has shown her work in the Kansas City and Dallas areas over the past 10 years and currently has works on display at the La Montage Fine Art Gallery in Lewisville, Texas.

“Assembly of Equals” description, as written by the artist:

The ‘assembly’ in the name of the piece has a double meaning.  The first refers to a work of art that is actually assembled, or put together from several objects.  In this case, painted cardboard circles mounted on a collage of papers and prints.  Many times, an ‘assemblage’ is composed of found objects or repurposed objects.  This is the case with the circles as they were cut with a table saw from a long cardboard tube carrying metal for airplane parts.  ‘Assembly’ also refers to a group as is represented by the multiple circles.  ‘Equals’ in the name refers to the fact that all of the circles are the same size and the circle represents the perfect shape.
